    Ingredients

    2 Tablespoons olive oil

    3/4 cup sweet yellow or red onion, chopped

    3 cloves garlic, minced

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

    3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

    1 lb ground beef or turkey

    1 medium red bell pepper, cored, seeds removed

    1 cup crushed tomatoes

    1 8oz. Can Tomato sauce

    1 Tablespoon packed brown sugar

    3 Tablespoons ketchup

    Instructions

    Place peppers, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, brown sugar and ketchup in a blender and blend for 20 seconds, scrape sides of blender, blend 20 more seconds. The sauce should be smooth.
    Heat up oil in a large skillet.
    Add garlic and onion and saute until onion is translucent.
    Add ground beef and cook until done.
