    Ingredients

    • 2 sweet potatoes (1 1/4 pounds)
    • 1 3/4 cups sugar
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 3/4 teaspoon coarse salt
    • 5 large whole eggs
    • 2 large egg yolks
    • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
    • 2 cups milk, scalded
