    • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
    • 5 large eggs
    • 1 cup matzo meal
    • 6 1/4 cups water
    • 1/4 cup white wine
    • 1 teaspoon crumbled saffron threads
    • 1 fresh bay leaf
    • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
    • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
