    • 1 large onion diced
    • 2 cups celery diced
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
    • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
    • 1 tsp. garlic powder
    • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
    • 1/2 tsp. white pepper
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 8 cups water
    • 3 cups diced ham add after the beans are cooked to avoid cooking the flavor out.
