    Ingredients

    • 1-1/2 lbs stew beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
    • 1/4 cup flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • 2 cups beef broth
    • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
    • 1-1/2 cups diced tomatoes, undrained
    • 2 to 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
    • 2 to 3 carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
    • 1 medium turnip, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
    • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
