    Ingredients

    • 4 large apples (I believe that golden delicious is what Cracker Barrel uses, but I always use granny smith as that's what the Mr. prefers)
    • 21/2 cups spiced apple cider (I use the Trader Joe's brand, you could also use regular apple cider or juice)
    • 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
    • 4 Tablespoons white granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1 pinch salt (optional, but I think it helps build the flavor)
    • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
