    • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
    • 3 cups chicken broth
    • 1/2 red pepper, washed, seeded and coarsely chopped (about 1 1/2 cups)
    • 6 small red sweet peppers, washed, seeded and coarsely chopped
    • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 3 cups flour Maseca for Tamales
    • Salt to taste (I added about 1 teaspoon)
